Box #5, I would rather not link to my weblogs, but in this time, at the top of the webpage, are some videos by folks that I trust. It's, of course, off topic, but since I brought it up I wanted to follow up. I also set myself up for ridicule by having my own diet book: The Australopithecine Diet. In my defense, it's not really a diet but a survival imperative of a hominid that (so far) has out-lived us by many millions of years. If you're interested, this is a relevant article: >click< RSS

Podcast WDS Weblog DotCom February 15, 2007 I've just had the privilege of watching two people with modest computer skills build their first e-commerce website in under a week. Of course, they've only established a foundation for bigger and better things. Needless to say, these folks are thrilled with the potential for their new skill! If you'd like to join them, click the above green banner. I have a podcast on the way in which I will discuss this ShowString process in detail. Politicians
have
been caught numerous times lying and then covering-up such things as
going to war and environmental risks. How serious is that?
Of course, we can't trust people that lie to us. Our only protection from self-serving bureaucrats is to become as independent as possible. That means not depending on such things as pension funds, the value of the dollar, and (so called) entitlements. One approach to becoming more independent is to trust your computer and the internet as a venue for financial security. I'd be naive to think that the internet is not fraught with lying and lairs. The web is full of rip-offs, virus hackers, spammers and the like. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are certainly about making money more than saving the world, but I'd trust either one in a heart-beat (based on the evidence) before I'd ever trust a political bureaucrat. One approach to financial independence is to build an e-commerce business. But it's an exercise in lunacy that the first thing many folks do is turn control of their website over to a template program, or worse, a Webmaster. Webmasters are for corporations or those wanting a vanity (or fun) website, but are the kiss-of-death for a e-commerce business. If you want the independence of e-commerce, you must maintain 100 percent control over your website, otherwise the person that does control your website controls your e-commerce business. I'll continue to discuss this and other topics during my podcasts. #9 ~
In
this podcast, I
discuss my reasoning behind a change in focus from eBooks and courses
to interactive tutorials.
I discuss microphones and hints to chose the correct one for your
podcast show. I
talk about the inherent problems encountered while learning to podcast,
and the essentials for the beginning podcaster. Here's the MP3 link: >podcast<For help developing your podcast (etc.) click here: >click<

But damn,
as
usual I made
a couple stoopid mistrakes. When I should have said 6000 new
podcasts just this
month, I said 600.
But a worse goof was referring to the passing of the great
inventor of the microchip, Jack Kilby
as Jack Kirby
-- I did it
twice. To make amends a little bit I'm offering this link to a webpage
that talks about Mr. Kilby's life. >click<In this podcast, I continued the theme from Podcast #15 -- the lemonade stand approach to business promotion vs the brick & mortar approach. I went on to discuss things I believe should be mastered before entering the world of e-commerce entrepreneurship. I again covered the evolution leading to podcasting, high-lighting the work of Dave Winer and Adam Curry. I reviewed Todd Cochrane's great book, Podcasting - The Do It Yourself Guide. It's hot off the press and, if you have an interest in podcasting, it's the best $15 you can spend. You can purchase the book and, at the same time, listen to one of Todd's podcasts at Geek News Central. The theme music selections are from All The Best From Hawaii. I have the older cassette set, but it's now available at Amazon as a CD. Carl Weisbrod Podcast #7a is on the way. June 20, 2005 This will be a
continuation
of PC#15

#23a is
online. The purpose of this show is to introduce a tutorial titled Podcasting
On A ShoeString. I discussed the statistics that suggested
we
learn much slower from a computer screen than from printed material. I
offered an opinion why this is the case. I then talked about some
learning theory stuff. I defined my concept of core values and how it
influences learning. I thought out-loud about gifted teachers, and
followed with some ideas about on-line systems. I then offered the free
on-line program, Podcasting On A ShoeString. It's available by clicking

10-10-06 #22a. This
is a special ebay
edition. This time, I
talk about learning to podcast on a shoestring. I discuss my approach
to hardware and software, and even discuss why I use a locked-in $30
consulting schedule. What's a PRN system? ...I talk about that. I
mention the necessity of an ability to build a basic website. I finish
with some basics of learning theory. If you're a beginner, this podcast
could demystify some mythology.
