Thoughts:
Often there are conscious thought processes residing in the right-brain
hemisphere, or the imagination, that do not involve the thinking
necessary for the performance of one's routine tasks and
responsibilities. For the purpose of the W-TFI Examination, these
thoughts will be considered discretionary,
and are often goals or fantasies.
Fantasy: These are discretionary thoughts that allow us to vicariously experience something that would be impractical or impossible to achieve in real life. Fantasies are usually positive unless used excessively to avoid the real world. SuperMan/WonderWoman Fantasy: Fantasies often allow us to vicariously experienced ultimate adventures without the inherent risk. These fantasies are often facilitated by movies, television, novels, and adventure stories. They are healthy unless used excessively to remove oneself from reality for extended periods of time. Sexual fantasies are often in this category. Fantasy of Aggression: These are fantasies that are sometimes violent, vengeful, and even cruel. They are useful to defuse internal feelings of anger, jealousy, and other forms of mental pain. Aggressive fantasies would be considered negative only if they use up more than a small part of one's mental energy. Positive Fantasies: Usually fantasies that allow us to pass the time, defuse negative feelings, feel better about ourselves, or offer us feelings of pleasure, are positive fantasies. Negative Fantasies: If a fantasy is used only for the purpose of procrastination, denial, paranoia, revenger, or the avoidance of an appropriate goal structure, it could be considered negative. Page -4-
Phobic Fantasies: These are fantasies
in which we imagine some even that is in reality an unreasonable fear.
There are almost always negative.
Goal: Goals are the mental images of something that we expect to have happen in the future. Developing Goal: This is the initial emergence of a goal--the seed of a new idea. Dynamic Goal: This is a well-developed goal in the mind toward which we are successfully striving. Static Goal: This is a goal that should have progressed beyond the Developing Goal status but for whatever reason is stuck, blocked, or otherwise not moving. Externally Stimulated Thoughts: These are drivers of thoughts that relate to all thought processes--goals, fantasies, and miscellaneous. When externally stimulated, thoughts come into you mind from something out in the environment. It can be a conversation with someone, or something you see or hear. Internally Stimulated Thoughts: These thought drivers also can include all thought processes. Whoever they seem to come from inside your mind, perhaps rising from old memories, another thought, a feeling, or even out-of-the-blue. Miscellaneous Obsessions & Memories: This category is for thoughts that don't fit into the category of goals or fantasies, but still seem to be discretionary. They can be internally or externally stimulated. Page -5-

Section Three First Discretionary Thought List Carry forward each
of the three goals, fantasies, and miscellaneous. You may have a 3/3/3
breakdown, or you may prefer to go back to your raw data and add, for
example, more goals. Make sure, in other words, that your list includes
the 9 most frequent, powerful, and dominating discretionary thoughts.

Reformatted List Based on Comparative Ranking From the list on
the previous page, copy your goals, fantasies, and miscellaneous
according to your ranking, with the strongest on top. If you fee there
are any items in you raw data that are stronger, fit them in and drop
off the weaker discretionary thoughts.

list. By carefully studying the list on page 20, rearrange your
list so that more of your dynamic and static goals are closer to the
top, and negative fantasies are closer to the bottom. Continue to refer
to the mp3 recording for further instructions.
