A Hawaii Trip

If you think of Hawaii as a paradise, and in many ways it is, but imagine it's too expensive to even consider living there... you may be right. The outer islands, however, are a different story. Investigate the possibilities with Carl Weisbrod.

Podcast #11

I start by struggling through definitions of patriotism and loyalism. I cover two front-page stories in the Honolulu Advertiser: One about whistleblowers and the second about Molokai. The first leads me to discuss Old-Boy networks and the second the resistance of Molokai locals to development. I then offer reviews for the BlogHawaii podcasts from one to ten in preparation for the inclusion in the Podcast WDS archive program.

Podcast #10

In show 10, I talked about the podcasts that do a good job of reflecting local news and culture. I talked about the Honolulu homeless issue and repeated a news story of someone dying in a park remaining ignored and undiscovered for at least a year. I read the news story.

In this rather short show, I complained a little bit about our local politicians, and then suggest an approach to have a great Hawaii vacation.

Podcast #5

#5 (8-22) This show (and shows 6, 7, & 8) are are devoted (as above) to the eBook "Converting A Van Into An RV." As presently configured, my TASCAM limits me to 22 minute shows, so I had to break it up in this manner. I picked up where I left off from show #4... at Chapter Five and left off about half-way through Chapter Eight.

Podcast #2

#2 May 17, 2005, I expressed my sadness at Jerry Byrd's passing. In this show, I talked about "Lifestyles of the Poor & Unknown" ...it's an e-book, if I ever get around to putting on the finishing touches. If you pay attention to some of the principles I offer, you can live well in Hawaii. I talk about "casting off municipal and rural bonds.

Podcast #1

#1 May 11, 2005, The Premier show. The cost of lining is very high in Hawaii. The blame is placed on the fact that we're isolated in the middle of the Pacific. That's not the reason. I talk about the real reasons in the show. I talk about the frustrated desires for land ownership. There is some hope, but not in or around Honolulu. I then got off on the subject of music -- played a little Merle Travis and Jerry Byrd.
